Gear & techniques

We supply everything. Here's a peek at the rods, bait, and methods we run on this trip.

Tackle & bait

  • Conventional reels on 30–50 lb braid
Enough backbone to pull grouper out of structure.
  • Live & cut bait
Pinfish, threadfins, squid, and sardines — matched to what's biting.
  • Vertical jigs & flat-line trollers
For mackerel and kingfish on the move.

How we fish

  • Anchor & chum
Set up uptide of the reef and bring the fish to us.
  • Drift fishing
Cover ground when the bite spreads out across structure.
  • Slow trolling
Live baits behind the boat between bottom stops.
