Gear & techniques

We supply everything. Here's a peek at the rods, bait, and methods we run on this trip.

Tackle & bait

  • Penn 6500–8500 conventionals
65–80 lb braid, heavy fluoro — for fish that fight dirty.
  • Stand-up rods 50–80 lb class
For amberjack, big grouper, and pelagic surprises.
  • Live blue runners & sardines
Caught fresh on the way out, the bait that wins.
  • Electric reels (on request)
For deep drops and long fights in deep water.

How we fish

  • Anchor on big structure
Pinpoint anchoring on wrecks and ledges holding fish.
  • Power drifting
Holding position over fish with the trolling motor in deep water.
  • Flat-line trolling
Live baits behind the boat between bottom drops for kings & cobia.
